I just picked up the December 2004 edition of PC Gamer mag, because they had the first review of Half Life. The screenshots were amazing and the review was nothing but positive. The reviewer even said its possibly the best PC game ever made. I will be making a new computer purchase just so I can play this game. Check it out if PC games are your thing.
