View Full Version : Backdoor Semi-Bluff against Good Player!

Hello,Players,

I saw a very interesting play in my 1/5 no ante stud game tonight.

One lady had 3 diamonds,K high,showing on 5th Str .

Her opponent,a good player,had 3 spades showing,A high.

The A high bets out and the lady raises.

I was convinced that she had a flush--I did not know how she played.

However, she was staring at a possible A-high flush or at least a draw to a flush--the "spades" were live.

The player with the spades just called. Hence,I believe that he had a draw to the flush, but did not make it yet.

BTW,the lady's A-high diamond was in another player's hand.

On 6th,the lady connects with another diamond while her opponent catches a broadway belly buster on the board.

The lady bets out and her opponent calls . On 7th,the A- high checks and the lady bets out.Her opponent thinks for about 20 secs and releases his hand.

Although the lady made an excellent play against her opponent, her "ego" told her to show how smart she played.

She did a backdoor semi-bluff and ended up with a pair of 4's!

Unfortunately for her,I learned a great deal about her playing style. She played tight on the early streets, but made moves on 5th or 6th--very seldom on 7th.

I'm almost positive that her opponent completed his belly buster.

Happy pokering
