Supersystem or Theory of Poker?

For a primarily stud player, which one gives a better understanding of the other?

Or is either one acceptable to read first?

read: "The Theory of Poker." Good all-round book.

You'll probably find more useful Stud-specific information in Chip's section on 7CS in Super/System. That is, it deals specifically with how to play certain holdings against certain other holdings on 3rd st, etc.

However, you'll probably NOT find any more useful general poker theory book than Sklansky's Theory of Poker.

I would recommend reading both, certainly, but for a crash course in Stud, Super/System is best.

If you're a stud player, why not read SCSFAP in combo with "Theory of Poker"? Super System is fun and nolstalgic but the stud section is very limited compared to SCSFAP.

I agree with the thers reasd all of them. But if you had to pick a sequence, you will do best by reading Super System first (especially if you are currently playing casino stud).

If you are still in a "student only" phase (not playing really) then read TOP first and SCSFAP next. But I would definitely not skip out on super system. There's some great advice in there regardless of whether or not you've read the 2+2 books.

Actually, the curriculum I would recommend is:

1. The Theory of Poker.

2. The "Razz" Section in "Sklansky on Poker". (Razz is 7-card stud low-only).

3. Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players.

4. The Super System section.

Then when you're done, go back and re-read all of them.

I've got'em all( 7CSFAP, TOP, SS, Caro tells, West's low limit book, etc.) But I just got supersystem and TOP at the same time. I will have them both read at least once in the next month or so. It's gonna be tough to keep up with all my college reading, but I somehow find the time to read the ones I'm interested in ; )

I was just wondering which you guys think is a good reference for the others. Thanks for all the input.
