I love baseball more than I love poker. And it isn't close.

I vowed not to watch the World Series earlier tonight, too painful after the bad beat to end all bad beats. But I know I won't be able to keep that promise.

I like this positive attitude Andy.

I am confounded by the fact that baseball has become the least popular of the three major professional sports. It might be debateable whether the NBA or MLB is more popular, but certainly the NFL has shot far ahead as the most currently successful of the three. Yet baseball is so clearly the best game, and yes, it's not close.

The NBA is a long ways away from baseball and football. In fact the past few years the NBA playoff ratings have been falling, steadily, while baseballs have actually improved.

In a final, eleventh hour attempt to win Clark's POTD contest, let me say that football is game for idiots, baseball for intellects and poets.

If by some unlikely chance you have never viewed the Ken Burns Baseball documentary, you should rent it when you have some time. You would agree with his point of view.

While the series was at its bleakest, I pulled out W.P. Kinsella's The Thrill of The Grass , which has some stuff in it that's a heck of a lot better than his novels. The Boys of Summer would probably have been next on the therapeutic schedule. It was last year.

Andy and Billy Crystal are my favorite Yankee fans and the only ones I feel sympathy for.

Maybe. Certainly for people with a certain romanticism.

I doubt I'll watch much of the World Series, but I don't think I'd be able to resist Clemens pitching game 7 in Fenway, if that happens.

And maybe a little for JTG. But he's from Cheshire and should know better.

I bought a rule book and I'll try to do more next time, sorry Andy.
