As I have been listening to a lot of music on my pc lately, I've realized that my Altec Lansing speakers blow. I purchased these about a year ago for $60. I am looking to get something nice and would like to spend less thn $300. I do not need 37 speakers to surround me, only 2 and maybe a sub.... Any suggestions ????

I'm in the stone age, how do you go about downloading music and then playing it while you play poker?

Great product!! I used to work for Cambridge SoundWorks/Creative and I love their speakers. IMHO for music on the PC their products are the best.

heard good thing about the logitech z-2200.

logitech site (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2,CONTENTID=7170)

you can get it on amazon for $50 after mail in rebate. only bad thing is the order might take 4 weeks (i'm not sure why). at least they were able to give me a small gift certificate on my next purchase.

I bought a 2.1 set-up from Cambridge Soundworks a year before Creative bought them. I forget but think they were called something like the Cambridge Microworks. At any rate, they were the top Cambridge computer speakers at the time and had won years worth of endorsements by all the top gaming and computer magazines as the best computer speakers around, and by a big margin.

I've been very happy with them. They really do sound great.

When Creative bought out Cambridge, they started cashing in on the Cambridge name BIG time and started putting out a flood of crap with the Cambridge name on it. The Cambridge name took a real bad hit, but they've recovered somewhat and when I listen to the Creative/Cambridge's in stores now, it isn't so bad at all anymore, if you get the top of the line ones. I think Creative cooled down with the whoring out of the name on cheap products before they drove it into the ground and made it completely useless.

But now others have caught up, and Creative/Cambridge's almost never get picked as the top choice. Still, they do make some quality products, and originally come from a great pedigree.
