Is there any other way to play this?

I can't see any reason you would want to slow down here.

OK good.
I actually took 3rd place honors in this one, behind CO's 88 and MP2's Q9o.

Well played.

I'd only slow down if raised on the turn or river.

I don't see a problem. You're most likely not against a flush as they probably would have raised somewhere in there. If you're beat, it's probably against someone holding a 9 who didn't raise because they were scared of a possible flush.

Win or lose, well played.

The turn card is very ugly, and unless MP2 has JT/J8, it would seem to me that MP2 has either made a straight or a flush. I would think about check/calling on 4th street.

Yes, the turn card is scary because of the possibility of someone holding a 9. But, check/calling is extremely weak given the number of re-draws that are there assuming no one holds a bigger set. Bet this turn every time.

You know what, you are probably right. But the main reason why is the size of the pot. If this pot were half this size, I would seriously consider checking and calling.

Really? You have 10 outs here. You need 3.7 to 1 to call here, and the pot is already 11.5 BB on the turn. Half that size would be 5.525 BB. With a dangerous board you really don't want to give a free card here. We 3-bet the flop, so checking has a high chance of being checked through if they are fearing a check raise. So betting must be correct, I believe, even at half the pot size.
