Does anyone who plays there regularly see a decline in the quality of Commerce?

By quality, I mean managment, dealers, players and the general vibe. Ive played there regularly for a few years now, and it seems to be going down hill. In the past week, I have seen two fights between dealers. Both times, two female dealers started screaming at each other right in front of the players. It was a very ackward moment, when one dealer left, and the other continued on about how much of a bitch the other was.

Just today, I was playing 3-6. The dealer got pissed at me for calling time and trying to count the pot. He said something to the effect of "Look at this guy. He thinks he's in the WSOP" and "we're at 3-6. The 100-200 is over there". Not only are these idiotic statements, I think its is highly innapropriate for a dealer to make any comments about another player.

I have also noticed the facilities seem to be maintained improperly. Every time I step into the bathroom, the amount of piss on the floor is ridiculous. I'm not sure which is worse. The fact that it isnt cleaned well/enough, or that my fellow poker players are inable to hit a urinal from a foot away.

It just seems to be a chore to drive the extra couple minutes, when the Bike is a little closer to me, and a much better environment.

Does anyone else who frequents Commerce feel this way as well?

Calling time at a 3/6 table, I'd laugh at you too. Wait, I am trying to get tips. Maybe not then.

But if I were playing at your table, I would certainly make this comment. You forgot a lesson from HPFAP, you have to act fast. You cannot be seen as someone who takes the game seriously. Otherwise players will try to play better against you in particular.

Good luck being a 3/6 pro.

What sarcastic ass comments those were from TC. I guess there's absolutely never a time when anyone who is serious about poker would need to call time and think in a 3/6 game. <== that's sarcastic. Is TC a BOZO?

I had a bad experience at Commerce a couple of years ago. I just go to a closer casino now.

I would have immediately yelled FLOORMAN when that dealer started singling me out. I'd have given the floorman a piece of my mind and then left telling them both they have jobs because of players like me and that I'll likely never be back. On my way out I would have talked with the floor manager and told him he wants people like me at his casino. People who are courteous to staff and to the other players. People who don't piss all over the floor.

The piece of sh*t attitudes of Casino Staff fries me. Are you Casino staff TC?

Were you wearing sunglasses with an unlit cigarette in your mouth?

Just curious.

Yes I agree the general feeling at commerce has gotten worse. The waiter staff SUCKS lately, I try to order my free food at 15-30 a little while ago and all I get is problems, "you can't have that with that", "you can't order another entree until you finish your soup" or something like that. Ridiculous. Also, while waiting for a no-limit table, I wander over and say hello to someone I know playing 150-300. We exchange pleasantries for a few seconds and I back off about fifteen feet and watch the game. A bored looking name-taker-guy comes over and says that people at the "big" games like their privacy and I need to move. I lie to him and say I am on the board for that game and he tells me "All the more reason they wouldn't want you to watch". Super.

Also, if I was playing 3-6 with you and you called time and took a while I would AT LEAST roll my eyes. No offense.

Hi Jedi,

Your concern is very real. If the situation with the 3/6 dealer happened exactly as you described, the dealer should be reprimanded severely. Unfortunately, it is so common at Commerce and nothing will happen to that dealer, and you'll just have to accept that. It is apparent that they get SO much business, and if they lost one customer, they could really care less. Almost the "Bank of America" of casinos. You have a right to call time when it is your turn to act, within a reasonable time factor. However, I wouldn't want to let the other players know what I'm counting. How do you normally keep track of the pot? Do you not count the sb/bbs as you go along?

The Commerce is one of the most poorly run cardrooms I've ever been to. The majority of the dealers are careless, the floormen are careless, and the facilities (chairs, tables, bathrooms, etc) are all subpar. With the recent upgrades to the auto-shufflers and new carpeting to the low-limit section, perhaps this may change.

Why do I play there exclusively rather than the Bicycle Casino, where the problems listed above are practically non-existent? There are no better games, both in variety and fishiness, in the area. It's all about the money. Hang in there.

People who call time slightly annoy me for slowing an already slow (compared to online) game down.

However, that's nowhere near as bad as the guys who wear sunglasses while listening to their iPods in 1/2,2/4, and 3/6 games.

I've never been in a game at Commerce where someone was going to look into my eyes and read my hand.

I understand if I took a lot of time, but it was maybe five seconds. Its not like I struck the "thinker" pose, and tried to freeze my opponents.

And I did get up and complain to the floorman. He told me "dont worry about it", whatever the hell that means. I told him I was cashing out and going to the Bike, and he told me, "thats probably best for everyone". If they dont care about keeping players happy, then Im done with them.

Yeah, I count the bets as the action moves along. I'll come clean. Some guys girlfriend/wife was standing at the table next to me, and she had a great ass. Im only human guys /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Use the top section bathroom. It's definitely nicer. Rich people have better aim, I guess.

The Commerce blows...I go to the Bike, Hollywood Park and the Hustler many, many times a year.

I've been to The Commerce. Once.

What does that tell you?

The Commerce blows as a card room, but it's true that the competition is too awesome to ignore. Fishtastic. The Hustler has its share of fish too (esp. drunk fratboys on the weekends), but Commerce is loaded with them -- I love the elderly Asian women during the weekdays who play out of their racks and call off money because they're so bored.

Hollywood Park is what sucks. Small blind, big blind, plus the time charge on the button. Ugh. Hustler: one big blind, and that's it. Newer casino, nicer chips (ahh, clay... screw that glossy slick plastic crap for the $1 chips at the other casinos), better food.

I've only played at the Bike once, but the attitude of the players seemed pretty mean-spirited; arguments over every little possible thing. Plus, the competition I played with (3/6) was a notch above the 3/6 players at Hustler and Commerce.

Anyone like Normandie? It's a stinkhole of a cardroom, but also pretty fishtastic. Dumbest thing about it is, they got auto card shufflers in, but now they have a rule that the dealers have to shuffle the deck before they put it in the machine because of a string of jackpots following the auto shufflers being implemented.

Anyone played at the other L.A. casinos? I've never been to Crystal Park, Hawaiian Gardens, etc...

The dealer shouldn't have mocked you, but it really aggravates me when people take a long time live. The game is soooooo slow anyway, why slow it down for everyone else by calling time to count the pot? If the decision is that close, whatever you do you cannot be a significant mistake. Give up a few cents of EV to make the experience more fun and not be selfish. If it's important to you to know the exact size of the pot, count it while the action takes place. If you have not done so for whatever reason, that's your own fault, don't punish other players for it.

This is a real issue for me because in the already infuriatingly slow live PL and NL games I play, people routinely take 30 seconds to stare down their opponent, which is why I almost never play them.
