Tough to get away from but I think villians call-min reraise should set off alarms...

Oh and after the call on the flop I'm checking behind and folding to a decent sized river bet.

I don't like this at all. What do you expect to be called by that you beat?

I don't like your re-raise on the flop being out of position.

After I am raised on the flop I try to keep the pot as small as possible.

A weak-tight newbie such as myself would have folded this two pair on the flop reraise.

I dont like the reraise on the flop, he may have a pair + flush draw or AK, but this looks like a set or top. i call the min raise and see what happens on the turn. As someone has said you have position and a good but not great hand.

imo he wont check on the turn if you just call. i think you have to back your read on the hand, depending on the bet sizes.

Here's a newb thought from mathematic-ville:

Check the turn and see as cheap a showdown as possible.

Since the Villian completed the SB he may have 53 for a straight. If you peg him as a straight, set, or two-pair then your odds are 28:8 or 3.5:1.

With this thought and a $70 river pot, a $15 bet would be a fold.

Alternatively if Villian could only have trips or two pair then mid two pair is about a 1.5:1 dog and a $45 dollar bet would be a fold.

My two BB,
Justin

Calculations were (16+4+6+2:2+6):

Straight = 16. There are four 5's and four 3's unaccounted for.

Trips = 4. There is 1 AA combination unacounted for (but since there was no preflop raise we'll drop that). There are 3 44 combinations not accounted for. There is 1 22 combination not accounted for.

Top Two Pair = 6. There are 2 top cards and 3 middle cards unaccounted for.

Mid Two Pair = 4 (split between win/loss). There are 2 bottom cards and 2 top cards unaccounted for.

Bottom Two Pair = 6. There are 2 bottom cards and 3 middle cards unaccounted for.

Ooops... Misread the action. I thought you were first to act. That being said, don't re-raise, keep the pot small. At least check behind on the turn....

Here is my experience, if the pot is getting big and you have a marginal two pair, something is wrong.
