View Full Version : How high a PFR% is too high for 10 handed small stakes?

I understand why a PFR% that is too high is bad, I'm just not sure what constitutes "too high." My guess is something between 6-10% is normal for TAG play, with 10 being on the high side, and once you get around 12% you're probably -EV on some of those raises.

But I don't know. Anyody have opinions?

Highest I've seen anyone I consider a really good player saying he has is 12%. And I don't see where all those raises come from, I'm at 8% or so myself and I'm feeling that some of those raises are thin.

6-10 is about the right range. personally my pfr for 15/30 full is 12.27

what does that additional 2.27% do for you? just curious.

Do they help mask your other 10%, or are they for maintaining your style points. Just curious.

In limit I'm usually between 9% and 12% depending on the limits.

There is not a 'correct' PFR, it really depends on your table conditions, your goals of raising and you post-flop abilities.

That being said, my 2/4 PFR is higher, at above 14. It suits my aggressive style and goal of achieving an over-aggressive image. Some tables I'll raise far more, some I'll raise far less.

I just don't get what conditions could exist where raising 3/4 of the hands you play is appropriate and/or correct.

At slightly higher limits, with your opponents playing a little tighter, you get more opportunities to raise, because you will be the first or second into the pot more often.

In 5-10 and 10-20 games, I raise slightly more than 12%.

At 3-6 I raise preflop slightly more often than 10%.

Other than that, I don't have enough data to comment.

that makes perfect sense, just like at the shorthanded tables your pfr should jump up quite a bit. at higher limits, you would expect to be in more short handed type situations as less people are taking the flop.
