$60 buyin. Top 3 get a pass into the $150 Act II. Start with 1000 chips. Blinds 25/25, 25/50, 50/100, etc. moving up quickly. Long long wait to get in, over an hour.

Play was really really bad at my table. $5 Party NL SNG is much much tougher. From watching other tables, I don't think my table was an exception.

Of the three of us who moved on, one already had a seat in the 10k tournament. The other had won seven shots in Act III but hadn't yet managed to secure a seat in the big one yet. Two other guys at the table had a very small clue how to play. Everyone else was horrible - as in "you've got to be kidding me" bad. At least 3 had just come from another Act I where I'd watched them get knocked out with questionable plays.

Playing extremely tight worked very well. When the blinds moved up it was easy to steal as my raises were respected. I'd definitely recommend highly valuing every chip you've got (obvious I guess...). Pot would have 125, flop would come - someone would bet 100 and get 5 or 6 callers. And than same thing on the turn.

Valuable - and obvious - lesson I learned was hold on to your cards until you're sure the hand is over. Lesson #1 in a B&M which I almost screwed up. Folded to me in the SB, I raised all-in. I could've sworn the BB (who had me covered) said he folded so tossed my cards. Quickly grabbed them back when I realized he hadn't. Guy on my right said he would have busted my balls if I'd done that to him. Dealer said she was watching the cards and they were an inch from the muck - but never hit it. Had they hit, I would've been gone. A most ignominious way to go out. Never had to think about this stuff playing online...

Foxwoods Poker room was packed - huge lines for 2/4 and 4/8 and it seemed that a lot of tables were playing these limits.

The casino a whole was packed - mindblowing how much business they get. Seemed like every slot machine was being played, the tables were all crowded, even walking around the main walkway one had to constantly avoid people.

This past Saturday? Wow, I must've gotten there at the right time. I walked into the poker room at a little after 6:30 PM. 4/8 was open seating and stayed that way with no list until I went over to play an Act I at about 9:00.

I guess too many people were watching the game in the evening.

The play in the Act I's is definitely bad. Anyone with any skill should be able to get an Act II seat nearly everytime. Heck, I was in 2 Act I's and moved on both times. So the only question to answer for yourself is whether the time it takes to get through the Act I is worth the $90 difference in the entry fee ($60 for a I and $150 for a II)

I waited about an hour for a 4/8 seat when I got there around noon. There was a huge list until around 3 or 4 when they started calling 4/8 games out in the foyer where they usually play the acts. Then the list cleared and stayed that way almost the entire evening. I actually had a 4/8 table break on me around 9pm. That's unheard of on a saturday.

I was also there on Saturday. Got a seat at HE 5/10 kill in ten minutes. 75+% of the hands were kills. Played for three hours, made <$200 at a table full of really bad players - I had two pocket pairs and never had AK or AQ. Two tight players barely played any hands at all. It's amazing how scared everyone plays when you play TAG.

Two players tapped out (down to the pocket lint) while I was there. They were in WAY over their heads.

After a while I went to an ACT I and almost puked at the table when the dealer's changed and I got an Asian woman with a perfume that sent me running to the bathroom. (NO I don't drink when I play for $$ and I didn't eat the tuna salad.) Came back, played one hand, left for the john again, came back and (having my stack shortened by blinds while I was away) got AKo, went all in (5 players left, I was in 4th place) and got two callers. One caller had AKo and the 5th place player paired his Q and 9. I was ready to leave when dealer pushed $75 my way because winner didn't have me covered. I figured if I stayed I might do something really embarassing, ruining the felt in the process, so I went all in blind. Had 89o, flop - 6 7 T two clubs. Caller had Ac and two running clubs came. Left, got some air, drove home and emailed the director of poker ops who sent me a nice email back assuring me she would address the perfume issue with the staff.

Was a blast on Saturday night with all the Yankee/Sox cheering every time something happened which was pretty often in a 19-8 game. The place was PACKED probably becasue Regis Philbin was there. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
