Live 4/8 at the Trop
I'm BB
SB is major LP, so is UTG

I get K/images/graemlins/heart.gifQ/images/graemlins/heart.gif

3 limpers, SB completes, I raise, all call

Flop: 5/images/graemlins/club.gif 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif (10 SB, 5 players)

SB checks, I check, UTG bets, folded to SB who calls, I call

Turn: 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif (13 SB, 3 players)

SB checks, I check, UTG bets, SB raises, What do I do?

This seems like a pretty easy call. This is trip 5s way more often than it is a boat, even if both are "major LP." If your read was strong enough that SB won't CR here without a boat than you can fold, but I doubt that's the case.

I think you have enough of a hand that you kinda have to see a river.

PF: Good.

Flop: Fine, although I might bet this sometimes.

Turn: EASY call.

River: Let's just see what comes.

I was playing at this table with Evan, so I can add a bit more to the scenario.

SB: Stinking drunk. He and his two friends (who were sitting next to him) were horrible players, donating to the table. His buddy (Button) was hyper-aggressive with nothing (too much poker on TV), but SB was a calling station who would play almost anything for the first 1/2 of the session, but by this time he was being more selective with his hands.

UTG: Wearing wraparound shades and staring into the darkness. He didn't say a word at the table, and my recollection of him was different from Evan... he never played a hand. He was very tight passive, when he did play a hand he was easy to push off if a scare card was shown.

Pot odds necessitated a call. Evan's implied odds were good too, as UTG might probably call the raise. BUT I remember SB showing his hand to the button (who was the table raging drunk) who smirked when the 5 showed up on the turn.

What would you do now? There is a good chance SB has trip 5's....

You have a strong draw, it's unlikely he has a boat, call and see the river even though it's likely he has trip 5s.

Out of curiosity, what do you do if a K or Q hits on the river???

you're barely getting odds to call for a 9 outer, which you don't have. and plenty of time you're drawing deadw

I was folding to any non /images/graemlins/heart.gif river.

Yes I know the rule about not folding for 1 bet on the river, but top pair wasn't good here, it's that simple. SB had at least a 5, there was really no question about that.

In an effort to kill this thread here are the results....

I folded, UTG called

River: J /images/graemlins/heart.gif

Bet, call.

BB has J5, UTG mucks

....just remember these are meaningless, but I know people get curious.
