Pedro vs The Moose

Fenway

Opinions/Thoughts etc get posted here.

Side Note:
Houston is now my second favorite team. I really had no opinion on the series (other then being a closet Roger fan) but I decided to use TheSaltCracka formula for picking my #2 team.

Hottest team + number of miles from my house = My 2nd favorite team.

I am guessing this won't be a pitchers duel. Not sure why, but I think the score will be something like 7-6.

Given the state of the bullpens, it's not a matter of whether Pedro pitches better than Moose (or vice versa), but whether Pedro pitches longer than Moose (or vice versa).

Whoever's arm falls off first loses.

Pedro has to come out and attack the Yankees in this game. They're going to be trying harder than ever to get him out early and they have been successful in the past in doing so, he's got to throw strikes early and often, if he gives up a few homers, no biggie.

On the other side of the coin the offense has to put together good at bat's vs. moose. If they can get HIS pitch count up early and Torre has to bring F. Heredia into this game, big advantage sox.

I like the Sox chances in this game. One game at a time they've got to make this thing happen.

I agree with Aces. Given the state of the Sox bullpen, I kind of like the thought that I read in BP today, that the Sox should consider bringing in Schilling tonight if they need him. It's a must win game, and he's likely to be limited in game 6 anyway. So if you need him for 3 innings tonight, you bring him in, and start Wakefield in game 6. Interesting thought.

I do know that as of 2:00 pm, I probably won't be getting much work done.

I actually expect the opposite to be true. The Yankees know that Boston has nothing left in the bullpen, and they know that Pedro wears down around 100 pitches. New York is historically very conscious of stuff like this and very, very good at working the count and getting the pitch count up early.

Pedro's probably afraid of Sheff's roid rage, but I think like the Sports Guy said today, Matsui's probably due for a plunking.

Seems logical that St. Louis and Houston could have played the early game again today. I'm not against the early game, I just think they need to think about what happens when a game goes extra innings.

And there should never be a reason that two LCS games air at the same time. Is it really such a crime that they broadcast an afternoon game, even on the East Coast? There is a large portion of America that doesn't have cable, who weren't even able to watch one of the games when they were airing at the same time.

So, in addition to making 40,000 people in Boston who had planned to be at Fenway on Friday night instead come Monday afternoon, you also want to inconvenience another 40,000 by making them show up at the park in Houston three hours earlier?

I agree with you about the simultaneous stuff, but I don't think MLB had much of a choice here -- unless they wanted to put the games on simultaneously again.

The Fox close-ups are overdone no matter who they show. I don't really want to see ninety-eight shots of fans in the stands. The shots of Torre staring down at the bat he holds are particularly riveting. And Francona is starting to get the Lee Mazzoni rock.

What's that background humming noise when they're in Fenway?

Toro

Francona actually started the Mazzoni rock back in early June about the same time his honeymoon with Red Sox Nation was coming to an end.

I actually dislike Sheff a lot, so it makes rooting for him very difficult. I agree, he def let BB out to dry, but remember, Sheff is now an admited user. Plus he is just an ass hole. Apparently, he thinks he could hit 262 hits in a season just like Ichiro.

Maybe I was a bit hasty in writing off the Red Sox. Any team that can come back against Mariano Rivera back-to-back (well, this time was with a runner on third) has to have some shot at winning a series. If they get back to 3-2 by making two tough comebacks.....

I really don't like the Sox, but coming back against Rivera twice.... Yankees suck too, so
