Hi All

I am smiling many times seems anyone win here. I am original from Backgammon and there the rakes kill 75% of the players, exspecially on low stakes. Are a few loosers here........and what do you think how many make money in poker 75% or lesser. Untill now i play online and pay for 1$ profit 4$ rakes:(. In this way others must loose 5 to bring me one.....80% loosers

regards Wolfgang

Do you mean of all poker players, or just the 2+2 regular?

75% of the 2+2 regulars might be winning poker players, but I doubt 75% of regular poker players are winners.

I doubt 75% of 2+2 is and the number overall is prolly about 10% overall.

He did a better job with English, than I would have using a foreign lanquage.

yes the rake is an important factor in low limit brick & Mortar. I have read that 95% of all poker players are losers over the long term. My grand total is a negative but it is moving up toward even. I would believe that 2+2'rs have a better average than most but it is unlikely we are all winners in the long term.

Did you use babelfish to make this post?

Don't know if I'm a 'regular' but as of right now, I am an overall 'loser'. Also I have not won anymoney player poker.

nope i dont use a translator /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

lets make it easy, the posts here give anyone the feeling that anyone win. In my opinion max 25 % can be winners in the long run.

80% of my wins catch the casino...RAKES

I play mostly small tournaments. I keep stats and right now my overall average is about $2 for every $1 spent in entry fees. (So I guess that'd be 2:1 or 1:2 /images/graemlins/smile.gif )

My "in the money" percentage is right at 50% of the tournaments I play in.

The thing is, it's much easier to be a winner online than it is in a casino. This is due to lower limits, easier access for new players (less intimidation factor) and lower rake at low limit games.

Since many of the posters here play 5/10 and below and since the average player at those stakes does not seriously study the game, it would be natural that most of the posters here are winning players.

Certainly not everyone here is a long term winner, but a much larger percentage of the posters here than the general poker playing populace are long term winners.

Anyone CAN win, as long as everyone ISN'T.

With rake the game has a negative sum, but as long as there are ignorant, drinking, vacationing gamblers out there, the well-read, sober, practiced players can take their money.

Hi Wolfgang,
I think you would get more meaningful replies to your posts if you were to follow some basic grammar and spelling guidelines used by the vast majority of posters in this forum. Just a suggestion.

Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch. Du sagt, "try to chat in german, than u know how i feel." Du bist richtig. Dieses ist sehr schwierig fur mich.

Okay, English now. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I will try to write clearly.

Most poker players *are* losers. However, most of the losers do not visit poker message boards. Players from 2+2 are mostly better than average.

Players from 2+2 are the ones who are studying and thinking about the game a lot. That is why they read this board, right? So the average 2+2'er is much better than the average non-2+2'er. That is why this board has a lot of winners.

Geesh. English is obviously not his native language. Cut him some slack.

What did you put the cutoff on?

I have 125k hands and about 8k players in my poker tracker database and 38 percent of the players are winners. Of course this is a tiny sample size but it may give you some kind of indication

I started w/$40 last feb2004 and keep a separate bankroll for buy-in's. I have $112 right now. NO casino play, only home games. This doesn't count expenses such as food, beer, cards, poker chips. If that was the case then, I would be down $1000's. If I sold all my chips/cards then, I would be up quite a bit because of the Paulson thing and just plain buying them right. It's still cheaper than going to a bar and drinking.
