Small blind play

I'm in small blind, no-limit. All fold to me & big blind behind me. We have about the same stack. What kind of hand(s) do I need to attack the BB & for how much? I know next to nothing about the player behind me. what about middle pairs, low suited non-connectors, high or middle non-suited connectors. Am I better off just calling & hoping he doesn't attack me?

Forgot to mention. This is tournament play. If I make a mistake, I'm out.
