so lame.

The funny thing is all the fox commentators say it helps boston because now Schilling MAY pitch. Come on, Schilling should swallow his ego and tell his team that he won't pitch and he shouldn't pitch.

All this does, IMO, is give NY's bullpen some rest and Sheff and Bernie a little more rest.

Doesn't this mean Pedro can pitch game 5, or possibly game 4 on short rest?

ThaSaltCracka
10-15-2004, 08:33 PM
probably. I am not sure how this affects the schedule. They play tomorrow and monday I think.

game 3 is tomorrow, game 4 is sunday, and, if necessary, game 5 is monday.

Given Pedro's history against the Yankees, do you REALLY want him pitching?, especially on short rest?

I'm suprised Wakefield doesn't get the ball every start from here on out.

Pitching in Fenway yes, in the Bronx, not so much

Yes, Joe. His history is 50/50 with most of the wins in Fenway and most of the losses in the Bronx and he is NOT pitching on short rest, it's been announced.

I love how Boston sports are the top posts on this board.

Peace,
Joe Tall

Oakland choked by letting Paul DePodesta go. Can it really be coincidence that the A's finally miss, and the Dodgers finally make it, the year he went from A's Assistant GM to Dodgers GM?

Ummm, doesn't that make him a .500 pitcher against the Yanks? We're talking about Pedro Martinez, not Peetey Martin. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I will conceed that it is DEFINITELY not over yet, but the fat lady is warming up.

Joe

PS: Its also fitting that my 600th post on this board is a little cheap shot back at you about the Yanks and Sox! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hate Joe Buck. After Manny got tagged out at third base in the 1st inning, Buck immediately goes off about what a bad play it was by Manny (and it was) and then later mentions something about how he was actually safe and it was a bad call by the ump. If that was Jeter he would be going on about how great he is and how his supple thighs propelled him to victory.

Bleeping Joe West. Terrible base running decision by Ramirez but he was safe. There is no way this umpire should be allowed to do a Red sox playoff game.

There is a history going back to late last year when he had some words with someone. His parting shot was "see you in the playoffs". He's biased and doesn't belong out there.

Lazymeatball

haha, Jeter totally bobbles Manny's groundout, and Buck is going on about how hard it was hit, how it should be scored a hit. The thing was right in his glove and he made an obvious error.

No, McCarver would say something gay like that. Along the lines of "Calm Eyes"

So.. who's going to play the Yankees in the World Series?

I'm hoping the Cardinals beat the Yankees, so I can at least say that LA lost to the world champions. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

As for this series, I think it would be a miracle for the Sox to not get swept.

At least it was nice of the Sox pitchers to give the bombers some nice batting practice.

Do you guys care if you get swept? Does it make it worse or is losing the series, losing the series regardless of the nuber of games?

This is better than last year though right? With your hopes all high and everything.

If indeed he said that, he shouldn't be allowed to work the playoffs. Actually, I don't think it was that bad a decision by Manny, Sheffield picked the ball up barehanded and had to make a perfect throw. When I saw it the first time in real time, I thought he was out. West was behind A-Rod, so he couldn't see when the tag was applied. But still, if an umpire says something like that, the league should either fire him or not let him work the games.

On the game in general: one of the worst games in the history of baseball.

Toro

Ok I can see you're enjoying this but I'll indulge you anyway. No, this is not better. I would rather lose in the 7th game by one run over what's happening now.

But we should have seen it coming. Losing your first 2 games with both your aces pitching is usually a recipe for disaster but we all deluded ourselves into thinking "once we get home to Fenway" . . .

The Patriots better not lose tommorrow or they'll have to close both the Zakim and Mystic bridges.
