A group of my friends and I play a weekly 10$ buy-in tourney, usually among 5-10 people. We used to play with a set of same-colored chips distributed equally among the players, but now, I've purchased better chips (multiple colors!). Also, we tend to increase the blinds every half-hour, but we don't enforce the rules very strictly. To begin with, we never really know how to split the prize money properly.

I was wondering if you guys can help me figure out a good system to work with, so we don't have to waste time bickering amongst ourselves before and during the game. I'd like to know how to distribute the chips in a proper way (we have five different colours), when to increase blinds and what the payout should be.

Thank you very much. The game is in a few hours, so I'd appreciate some help very much.

EDIT: Oh, and we intend to play for maybe 4 to 6 hours.

there's a home game forum, you might get better answers there

oh yes, I posted there as well, but the traffic on that forum is rather low, so I made a post here as well.

How about this? The five different colors could be worth 10/25/100/500/1000. Each player starts with 1500-2000 in chips, blinds begin at 10/20 and increases every 20-30 mins/15 hands. Because there are so few of you, I suggest a payout of 70/30(5 players) and 50/30/20(10 players, standard). Hope this helps.

Very best, John
