Last night during the game they showed a graphic which showed that the most post season wins by a Boston Manager was IIRC 9 total.

By comparison, Lou Pinella won 15 postseason games as the Mariners manager.

The reason for the discrepency IMO, is the Boston front tendency to be so trigger happy to fire people.

They have the second highest payroll in baseball, but they consistently hire managers with little track record.

well would you want to go there and manage? The media second guesses everything they do.

That dude in New York has fired a couple managers as well. Several times in some cases.

yeah, but with the same frequency as Boston. The Yankees use to hire/fire managers like crazy in the 80's and well, look how effective that was.

Yeah, Steinbrenner has mellowed a bit in his dotage, and Torre's success has been a factor too. But even before Torre, Showalter was there for four years, so they've had only two managers since 1992.

If memory serves, Steinbrenner fired Dick Howser after the 1980 season when the Yankees went 103-59, but lost to Kansas City in the playoffs.
