Saw him with $30,000+ in a prvt 15-30 game. Is he a big time pro? Played with him a few times, appears solid but not earth-shattering.

This one, I would guess, is very easy. He is probably a player who got a big tournament pull, aren't there 3-4 prizes (1st and 2nd on Sunday and a couple of others) a week on Party that gives $25k+?

And he obviously likes to show off. My girlfriend cashed $17k for a sixth-place finish on Stars on Sunday, but she hasn't showed off at all. Although you could argue that I am doing now.

That's about what I'd have if I never cashed out.

Having $30k in your Party account really isn't that big of a deal for a 15/30 player. I have more than that between my two accounts I regularly play on. That you see it as some obscene amount means you probably aren't properly rolled.

He is a very solid player and a big winner in the Party 30/60.

what would be the best strategy for actually getting a seat at the 30 game?

Wait for the "open seat" bug or get up at 5 am put your name on the list and come back at 5 pm to see if your close /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why does PP only have 2 30/60 tables? With that many people on the list wouldn't it make sense to open more? I can't think of a reasonable explanation.

They don't want the fishies swimming away with empty pockets too quickly...

i hate keeping one of those tables open instead of playing a 15, i guess i could use another skin though.

a number of times ill toss my name on the list and then come back to check an hour later and wont be on it anymore...any idea how/why i get booted sometimes?

Party just wants to make as much as possible of rake, and if players lose the money quickly they won't get much rake off them. Party is a very well run business in my opinion.

Why not just play 30/60 on Stars? Are the Party games that much better?

30k at 15/30? That's about a month work for a full-time player that plays well. I've seen stacks of 100k on party and that was before there were tournaments.

I'm not so sure anymore. Stars has gotten better.

i constantly see sub-20% flop 30 games on there :| i know it's the afternoon right now, but there's a full game with a 16% flop average going right now. entire flops, not vpip, and they're also talking about their hands in depth.

nikko's probably cold-calling with kings there /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've heard (but not from any reliable source) that in games that big, they have someone monitoring the game at all times to watch for collusion and such. In smaller games, I think they just check in from time to time and use programs that automatically check for suspicious behavior. I don't know if this is true and am curious if anyone else has heard that. This story seems suspect because I would expect that with the extra rake they would collect from more games, they could afford to to hire more people to watch the games. But if the people who would be playing an extra 30/60 are instead just playing 15/30 instead (as opposed to playing elsewhere or not playing at all), then I guess they aren't giving up any rake (I assume the collection is the same, which might not be true; I only play live, so I don't know the online structure). Someone could try emailing their support and asking. I expect that they would probably give an answer, although it might not be a true or useful one.

LOL. Funny screen shot. I have been playing at night recently and found some decent games. I haven't watched the party 30/60 in a while, but the last time I was, the games weren't super great either.

You don't have to keep the table open. Before you open your fourth 15-30 table put yourself on the waiting list for the 30-60 and then close the table. Everytime you switch to a new 15-30 table, take a moment to check that you are still on the 30-60 list. With all the bugs in PP table waiting system you will occasionally get bumped but you will eventually get on both tables if you want.

I would be scared to play at any table where people choose handles like "Quaternion".

I've only played in the party 30-60 game twice, but both times I found the players to be tougher overall than the Stars game has ever been for me.

Granted, I've only played the Stars 30-60 sporadically, and only when I thought the game was good.

I think people take the idea that "tight=good" too far.
