damnit, looks like NY-Bos has Buck, McCarver, and Lieter.

Better than Physco though.

Toro

Where the hell did McCarver find that jacket?

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:17 PM
He pulled it out from his playing days I think.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:20 PM
Okay I didn't know Lieber only had 18 walks this season... wow.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:29 PM
dude I told you, I am a Yankees fan.

BTW, those first two pitches to Jeter looked good.

Toro
10-13-2004, 08:31 PM
Pedro has no command. Has no idea where the ball is going.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:33 PM
WHOSE YOUR DADDY!!

Yeah sort of like Schilling yesterday, although I honestly think Pedro is tense. I think he shakes it off and will probably pitch better.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:39 PM
that pitch to Bernie was 3 inches outside, ridiculous call.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 08:56 PM
Uh oh..... two on, one out, Jeter up. Pedro is throwing to many pitches.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 09:19 PM
okay this game is way closer then it needs to be.

daryn
10-13-2004, 09:23 PM
the sox bats are dormant. it's not like the yanks pitcher is pitching a gem. things will pick up.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 09:25 PM
well if you mean he isn't pitching a perfect game, yeah you are right, but he is pitching pretty damn good and Pedro is obviously throwing to many pitches. Look for innings 5 and 6 to be where the offense comes in.

daryn
10-13-2004, 09:28 PM
i meant i think it's more of the sox batters not getting the job done. too many popups.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 09:29 PM
hmmm.... I have only seen a few mistake pitches, but you may be right.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 09:56 PM
the strike zone for this game is like 3 feet wide.

daryn
10-13-2004, 10:15 PM
good game

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 10:18 PM

It's important for Lieber to not let up now in the 7th. I will take my chances with Gordon and Rivera in 8 and 9.

Non_Comformist
10-13-2004, 10:30 PM
Lieber is still going strong and the Yankees woudl only need to use their two best relievers in Gordon and Rivera. I'm as confident as you can be against the Redsox lineup.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 10:33 PM
now the bottom of 7, but the yankees have the bottom of the red sox order to go through.

Non_Comformist
10-13-2004, 10:35 PM
got a little ahead of myself /images/graemlins/smile.gif I really think the story of the series so far is the Yankee starting pitching coming up big.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 10:38 PM
Oh yeah, unless you are a Boston fan, then the story is how poor their lineup is hitting /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

its just easier for me when this thread is first in line.

Nepa
10-13-2004, 11:04 PM
Wow, did that bat just explode?

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 11:11 PM
it was a little thing called riverarization, its pretty impressive really.

You the highlight for Sox fans is they haven't seen a Man-Ram today.

Nepa
10-13-2004, 11:14 PM
I know he break bats but he really killed that one.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 11:25 PM
I am nervous right now.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 11:29 PM

tough game, we get em on friday.

ThaSaltCracka
10-13-2004, 11:51 PM
it really was a good game, a real pitchers duel.

Boston shouldn't be too gloomy yet. If I were a Red Sox fan, right now I'd be telling myself "We only need one of four in New York. It's not time to get worried yet."

ThaSaltCracka
10-14-2004, 12:04 AM
The Yankees may not sweep, but this series is over. NY really only needs to win one in boston.

Neil Stevens
10-14-2004, 12:09 AM
Absolutely. If the Yankees go up 3-0 or 3-1, it's practically over. But right now, the Red Sox still have some hope is all I'm saying.

ThaSaltCracka
10-14-2004, 12:16 AM
yeah they have some hope. This series is not over, but they need big starts back to back out of Arroyo and Wakefield.

Clarkmeister
10-14-2004, 01:07 AM
It's the playoffs. Boston is playing New York. Is there any other possible outcome?

Just how I was able to get +140 on the Yankees to win this series will always be a mystery to me. Seriously. That line was absurd.

ThaSaltCracka
10-14-2004, 01:21 AM
Haha, Clark you always crack me up.

andyfox

Boston's only chance would appear to be if Tom Gordon gets into every game.

And I take back what I said earlier today: the Yankees do appear to have Koufax and Drysdale starting.

andyfox

I think Leiter is terrific.

The home plate umpire tonight looked like he had a wide strike zone inside (no matter whether the batter was a lefty or righty) but not outside.

ThaSaltCracka
10-14-2004, 01:28 AM
Leiter or Leiber?

Both were/are good IMO.

[/ QUOTE ] I thought the whole strike zone was wide. I noticed it especially with Pedro because his slider and curve looked like they curved in the strike zone, but not over the plate.

NOTE: I am not saying Pedro was getting calls and Lieber wasn't, just saying I noticed the large strike zone more when Pedro was pitching.

andyfox

Leiter.

Pedro had great stuff tonight, I thought, just a bit on the wild side. Two of the three runs that scored were on base on walks, and the pitch to Olerud, judging by Varitek's target, was supposed to be away, not up and in.

Someone here, a few month ago, said Gordon would be great until the playoffs. Very prescient.

ThaSaltCracka
10-14-2004, 01:43 AM
Leiter is a shinning star in the black hole that is the Fox broadcasting booth.

Clarkmeister
10-14-2004, 01:45 AM
McCarver is brutal, but I think Joe Buck is very good and keeps getting better. He's still young and is improving.

ThaSaltCracka

Don't give him more credit then he deserves simply because his dad is a St. Louis icon. /images/graemlins/grin.gif The one thing I like about him though is he constantly reminds viewers of the postseason futility of the Boston Red Sox. That never gets old /images/graemlins/grin.gif
