I'm looking into getting a second monitor as the resolution on my laptop only goes up to 1024x768. Does anybody know of any cheap monitors that go up to 1600x1200, or something close to that (I could handle a little overlap). Most of the monitors I've seen that go up to 1600x1200 are quite pricey. Just can't justify spending $700-800 on a monitor right now. So anybody know of a good model that is cheap, or a place that has good prices? I'm looking for flat screen. Thanks.

if you want a flat panel that does 1600X1200 you dont have any choices but the $800+ models. If you want a cheap monitor that will do that resolution you can get a CRT monitor really cheap.

How cheap? The cheapest I have found is $180. Anyone know where I can find one cheaper.
Thanks.

Anything you find on Newegg.com is as low as you're going to find, it's by far the best online retailer. You might also get lucky checking slickdeals.net.

Where have you found one for $180? Is this flat screen or not?

Another question. I've seen a lot of monitors that go up to a resolution of 1280x1024. How many tables can you fit on those? How much overlap? Thanks.

I think for 1280x1024 it's 2 tables, one in upper left corner and the other in bottom right. Then you'll have about 12% of overlap there. The size of poker client is usually 800x600, so 4-tabling might still be little complicated.

The cheapest 1600x1200 monitor that is also a flatscreen is the Dell 2001 FPS. You can get it on Ebay from between $710-$730 w/shipping already paid for. I just got it and its well worth those bucks, its gorgeous.

globalcomputer.com

Search for 1600x1200

17" flat CRT $164.99

19" flat CRT $169.99

Both 1600x1200.

I have bought from them in the past and had no problems.

I just checked out newegg.com which was recomended earlier in this thread and they have 19" CRT 1600x1200 monitors starting at $129 plus $25 shipping. I don't know much about monitors but the CRT monitors say flat screen, but they are far inferior to the LCD monitors.

It is available through Dell directly for about the same price right now. Shipping included with all the support.

He said "Flat Screen", not "Flat Panel", so yes you can find this for around $180

Check locally for computer stores that sell used equipment. I picked up a 1600x1200 CRT monitor for about $100. Slightly used, and works great.

A little side note here - just because a monitor can do a certain resolution, does not mean your video card will be able to support it. You should confirm what resolutions your card supports before purchasing a monitor - especially if you have an "older" video card.

Good point. I have a good video card for playing games, so this wasn't an issue, but it's something to consider before purchasing.
