Hello all--

Trying to get a home game together for Friday, but if we can't get some more players (looking more and more likely) we'll probably just head to Trump.

Anyone going to be there?

Also, on RGP someone mentioned that there are 2 NL games there -- $200 max buy-in and $400-min -- true?

Thanks, and maybe see some of you there.

I did happen to be passing through IL yesterday and i stopped to play at the Empress in Joliet for like an hour. If you're open to playing low-to-mid-limit, i would strongly recommend it. They just opened the room like 2 days ago and it shows in the quality of play there. I was playing in the 5/10 which is the lowest they spread (hey, i'm a short-bankroll 2/4 player back home at Foxwoods) and it played looser than 2/4, more like Pacfic's .05/.10 game! Seeing 5 or 6 in a reraised pot was a common occurrence even in the hour i was there. I can't vouch for the 10/20 or 20/40 but i've gotta imagine it's similar.

The rake is high (10% to $5) and you have to get an affinity card to avoid the $5 boarding fee your first visit . Still, with games that loose you should recoup that easily if, unlike me, you stay for several hours. Also they have weird hours -- i think there's no poker on Sat. and Sunday?

I'd seriously consider moving to IL if i didn't think this was a short-term phenomenon associated with the new room. :-D

Thanks for the report, but believe it or not, the boats in IN are much closer for city-dwellers (25-30 mins, as opposed to 45-1hr to Aurora Hollywood, or Joliet Empress).

I'll check it out sometime, when I find myself out that way.

yes, the NL is correct. They spread a 400$ min buy in "big game" with 5/10 bilnds. The small game is a 200 min/max buy in game with 2/5 blinds. you cannot rebuy in the game back to 200$ untill you are 100 or less. I have done very well in this game..lots of players trying to get there feet wet playing NL in this game, and man do they pay you off. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You are correct - there are two NL games at Trump:
$2/4 blinds, $200 max buy-in. Soft.
$5/10 blinds, $400 min buy-in. Soft at times. (Stacks tend to be quite a bit larger here - 5k+ not uncommon).

I was at Harrah's a couple nights ago and they had a NL game as well:
$5/5 blinds, $200 min / $500 max buy-in. Softest of the bunch.

This Friday is a bad night for a casino trip - but if you need another for a home game, let me know.

Thanks, I had no idea they opened a room. Empress was the first casino I visited when I turned 21, ahh memories.

Wish I could go, but I'll be raping and pillaging Party's $3-6 game for a couple more weeks before making my triumphant return to the Indiana fish tanks.
