turnipmonsterette and I are thinking of heading out to vegas for new years. the bellagio is apparently a lotta money (~600/night), and mandalay bay requires you to stay 3 nights over new years.

does anyone have any recommendations for places that are nice yet more reasonable (like, say 300/night?)

Minimum stays are a problem. You will find that even the lowe- class Vegas hotels require at least 2 night minimums on New Years. You might have better luck with some of the off-strip hotels like Orleans or Hilton. I'm interested in knowing what you find.

The Westin Casuarina is right off the strip and it's really great...small but classy, with a fun little casino, nice restuarant and rooms (with the Heavenly beds!) that are better than the likes of Harrahs, Tropicana, etc. If I'm not staying at Bellagio or Mandaly Bay, I'm staying here.

no poker room, but within walking distance of the Bellagio, mirage, etc...

Plus, they have a great rewards system...

I agree.

The Westin really is a nice hotel. It is actually the old Marina hotel, and the Westin did a wonderful job with the conversion. Of course, for such a small hotel, I think it is a bit pricey. I think if you look around you will find a better deal somewhere else, but you can't go wrong with the Westin if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay.
