I'm looking for a new cell phone. Should I get a blackberry or a normal cell phone? Camera phone or full keyboard phone? I think my options are:

Motorola V600
Nokia 6800
Blackberry 7780

Thoughts?

i got a treo 600 at work and at first i thought it was stupid but i carry it everywhere now and don't use my other normal cell phone anymore. it's a great device. i would pick a treo over a blackberry.

I wouldn't get the Nokia. I have owned a couple Nokia's and they all have broken down on me. I like my samsung though.

If you don't need a camera, don't buy it. They make your phone way bigger then if they don't have one.

moto's reliability and quality rules but the batteries may goose out on you. i'd still go with it if you consider the features to be "equal in value" (despite the obvious adds for something like a blackberry).

I got a Motorola V710, which looks very similar to the V600, in August. I've been extremely happy with it and the battery life hasn't been that much of a problem.

I'm getting a phone too. I would like it to be two things:

1) Small
2) Camera-phone

Any thoughts?

the audiovox cdm-8900 from verizon is good/cheap and has a speakerphone too. MUCH better cameras and video support are on the way though, see phonescoop.com for info. i think you'd probably appreciate the new ones enough to wait a bit.

I don't think they make any small camera phones. Atleast ones that aren't expensive.

Size: 0.9L x 1.8W x 3.9H inches
Weight: 3.18 oz

i just got a new one today because i lost my old one in aruba.

i got the nokia 6600 i think. it's a little bigger than my other phone, but i find that the size is actually perfect. it just fits perfectly in my hand and it's not too big, not too small. also the pictures it takes are digital camera quality.

I'm probably getting the Treo 600 as well. I went into a Verizon store and they let me play with it for 15 minutes, and it's awesome. A couple questions though: Is it BlueTooth compatible? Do they make a belt clip for it? If not, how easily does the screen seem to scratch when you carrying it around in your pocket?

i keep it in my pocket and it has been fine. but i'm not a tech guy and i couldn't answer you about bluetooth. i'm sure you could find it at their website though.

v710 has been getting bad reviews (and apparently the bluetooth is crippled)

where are you finding reviews for cell phones? i'd like to check some out.

just googling for MODELNUMBER REVIEW mostly. there are a billion segmented little cell phone sites, most of them are dedicated to a brand or carrier so i'm not sure there's a one-stop-shop for it. cnet/pcmagazine do them as well.

Ok, I'm probably going to get a Treo. But, it's not bluetooth. Are there any other similar devices that have bluetooth?

I just got the moto V600.

It's pretty cool. The bluetooth is awesome. Picture quality isn't the best though. You may want to check out http://www.howardforums.com for reviews of most of the cell phones that are out now.

Awesome, thanks. I almost ordered the 600 in a drunken rage last night. Glad I waited. Any idea on a release date?

no, i don't totally track such things. cnet and phonescoop are probably decent sources for that.

Ahh -- I just found a few strings here and there, suggesting sometime in November...just in time for Christmas. Thanks for the advice.
