Hi. In a game last night we were 3 handed, I was in BB. SB knocked out button. SB got button and I posted BB again, was this correct?

Cheers.

Depends upon the rule that was used by "The House", but most use the "Dead Button Rule" which states that the BB's go to the player due for it and the button and SB adjust to the BB. This is what the rule says (from http://www.homepokertourney.com/button.htm ):

Dead Button Rule
"The big blind is posted by the player due for it, and the small blind and button are positioned accordingly, even if this means the small blind or the button is placed in front of an empty seat, giving the same player the privilege of last action on consecutive hands." (from Robert's Rules of Poker)

...from the same web page:

There are three players remaining:
Player1 (Button), Player2 (SB), and Player3 (BB).
If Player1 is eliminated - Player2 is BB and Player3 is SB and Button.

Think of it not so much as the button moving, but rather the blinds moving.
