Stars 5/10. No particular reads, assume table is typical. EP, MP limp, LP raises, I cold-call in the CO with 44. BB tags along, and the limpers call. 5 to the Flop, 5bb.

Flop: T53r.

Checked to me, and I bet. Everyone calls. 5 to the Turn, 7.5bb.

Turn: 2

Checked to LP who bets. I call. BB calls, rest fold. 3 to the River, 10.5bb.

River: 7

Checked to LP who bets. I call. BB calls. I think I made at least 2 mistakes in this hand, if not more.

LP's play of this hand is really weird, but i think you can fold the river. A raise on the turn might also be a good play since it might get you heads up and you can take a free showdown if you so desire...

I make this coldcall all the time. It's better the larger the SB is.

I would take the free card on the flop. You have to dodge a million collective overcards and the pots already not bad.

I'd probably check the flop too.

The way you played it, I think calling on the turn is your worst option. I'd raise or fold depending on my read of the bettor.

Hi Danenania,

How can I fold my OESD on the Turn?

Hey Brian,

Raise the turn. Get it headsup with the guy who will usually have 5 outs against you.

I'm a little slow, what ahnd are we putting him on here? A pair of 2's or 3's?

LP will almost always have a decent unpaired ace here. Easy raise.

okay, i get it. I just didn't realize what hands had 5 outs besides 1 pair < 4's.

I think your 2 mistakes are preflop and not raising the turn.

I like to think I'm a little better hand-reader than that. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I wasn't, and still am not, sure whether or not I should have bet the Flop. With the pre-Flop raiser checking the Flop, I almost certainly have him beat. However, I still have the rest of the field to deal with, who may have been checking their Ten or other pair to the raiser, and betting doesn't do much to protect my hand. That being said, though, I think betting the Flop was the correct choice, because the pot is too large and my hand has too great of a chance of being the best to give a free card.

My major mistake was definitely not raising the Turn. LP's hand looked so much like AK, and I have plenty of outs if I am in fact behind, and I'll have to call a bet on the River anyways so this may get me a free showdown.

Having not raised the Turn, I think I definitely should have raised the River. This is a situation where I don't want the BB to overcall with some weak pair and steal my pot.

Fortunately, despite my bad play, everything worked out well for me. LP turned out to be a total maniac and had K8o. And the BB overcalled with AK. BB berated me for my play afterwards, exclaiming "A pair of 4's?!?! Fish!", which made me smile. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I also don't like the cold call with only 2 limpers in front of the pfr.
