I have now gone twice here.

They have only had a 2/4 and 3/6 game going each time.

I've stuck to 2/4 since the 3/6 hasn't ever looked that good.

2/4 here is extremely loose (75% players to the flop min) / passive (they usually easily tell you if they have top pair when you PFR or two pair on river raise).

This is an extremely great place to learn low stakes B&M for the 2+2er.

Mostly locals who just don't have a clue.

You gotta play pretty good post flop to beat all the crazy people you'll be up against to the flop and preflop raise a little higher standards since you are likely to get 4-5 cold callers with any 2 random cards. Little value in betting over cards since no one folds on flop.

As long as you can handle the runner runner anything you should be able to bring in a good amount.

Are there any other places in MN that offer poker? I wasn't even aware that Jackpot Junction offered it.

Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

There are a few small rooms in Indian casinos, but Canterbury is the only place with decent-sized games.

Ahh, ya, been there numerous times. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was looking for more so that if I went to the casino w/ my blackjack playing friends then I would have something to do. Of course, that may defeat the purpose of going to the casino with friends, so I guess it's not that big a deal. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I went to Canterbury with my (non-poker-playing) friends, they wouldn't be my friends much longer, unless maybe we drove separately.

They have BJ at JackPot Junction.

I used to be a BJ player.

But their limits on table are $5-$100. They also have $3-$50 or $100 can't remember.

I looked at their high stakes but not much better spread.

Friend of mine was up there recently and said the 3/6 HE game was rather loose. I normally play at Canterbury, but if I am ever up by Duluth, I may have to check it out.

Yeah, I just looked up where Morton was only to find out it's 120 miles from my house. Canterbury's only 30, so I probably won't make it to JJ unless there's a good reason.

However, I do have get up Duluth way a bit (my company has offices up there), so does Black Bear or any other ones up that way have poker?

My first post in this thread, which I foolishly thought was about JJ, was indeed about black bear.

I guess they have poker, but last weekend there was only 2 tables going, one 3/6 stud, one 3/6 HE

I was up at BB a few weeks ago on a Sat. and they had a 2-4, 3-6 and 4-8. The games were great (6-8 for each flop, no pf raise). For the record Turtle Lake is the same way. It was kind of fun as a roadtrip, but the 6-12 at Canterbury is just as profitable (and a hell of a lot closer).

Black Bear has NL tournaments on Sundays. I know some total clowns that drive up from the Cities to play in them. Makes me want to go even more. There is another casino in Duluth that has HE...I've been told aprox. 6 tables and very juicy. Haven't been able to convince the wife to take a rest break there...yet.

"However, I do have get up Duluth way a bit (my company has offices up there), so does Black Bear or any other ones up that way have poker? "

The Indian casino in downtown Duluth has a poker room
on the 2nd floor, near the top of the escalator.
Last May all they spread was Hold Em, don't know if
that has changed recently.

I can never remember the name of the place, but they're
in the old Sears building downtown, you can't miss it,
and they've been there for years.

Nice. I know right where it's at, it's just a couple blocks away from the office. I've never been there though as I didn't think they had poker.

It's probably a good thing I don't work up there. If I worked only a couple blocks away I'd be screwed /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info.

That was my experience playing 3-6 in August. Looser than LAX games if you can believe that.

I played the Golf Course. While it is expensive it is worth planning to play if you make the trip.
