Do casinos typically provide other options besides cashing out to cash?

How do 20/40 or 30/60 live players get their money to/from the game? That seems like a lot of cash to be carrying around on one's person.

I had a really nice score at 4/8 last night (10 hrs at an insane bb/hr) as was worried about walking out to the car with it. I couldn't even begin to image what it would be like to walk out with a 30/60 equivalent.

So, do people really just carry that much cash around?

how much could you have possibly won... $1000? people carry much more than that. sometimes i carry much more than that when i go to burger king.

that being said, i'm pretty sure you can get an account or something at poker rooms where they keep your cash.

lol.. ya.. I only won 1k.. so I was carying just a bit more than that. I am not used to carying that much $... but, it got me thinking, if I were playing 30/60, that would have been 7.5k.

Hopefully, this will be a real problem for me someday.. in the mean time, thinking about it peaked my curiosity.

Some casinos will let you keep an account on hand. I know a couple people who simply wire money to Vegas for it to be ready when they go. A couple places I've been to will let you rent a box, this is nice because you can keep your cash as chips. Most places however you have to walk in with a nice thick wad of cash. Really it's not that bad.

Oh and buy in for a 30 games is around 1500 so even if you carried 2 buyins your not close to your figure. Also the chance of tripling is much lower in the higher games because there just isn't as much gravy on the table.

Buy a nice handbag, put all your bills in it and strap it around your chest. That's how I carry my 10g's around.

The last time I was in Vegas, the guy beside me at a 20-40 table took his cash out of a gym bag that contained more than one "roll." I dont think anyone would bother targetting my sorry ass because I have a few k on me.

You dont really need the house security participation until you're across from Johnny Chan at a crowded 300-600 table and you take all of the stacks. Then they're gladly escort you as far as the craps table.

It's not that bad. I got paid cash for my $20k win at Foxwoods. I got escorted to my car, and I was on my way. The only scary part was that everyone in the entire area knew I had this much cash, since total strangers kept coming up to me and congratulating me. I would imagine it would be pretty easy for someone to eye up whoever wins, follow them out of the casino, have an "accident" on the road, and make off with a lot of loot. I was on the lookout for any of that, and was the only car on the road at 3AM.

But don't sweat it, unless you have over 10k, its not that big of a deal. Just lock it up when you get home.

Generally, I like to carry my money in a large burlap sack with a dollar sign on it /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

when you first start playing, 1k seems like a lot. I know it did to me, and I was nervous riding the subway home once. as you start playing more and higher your threshhold for comfort will increase. now I'm comfortable with a lot more, but I would be nervous about 20k, which to some is just routine. lots of high stakes players carry around chips instead of cash, it's much easier.

To be fair, at the time turnipmonster did live in the frickin' ghetto. Or, at least, next to it.

I've been under the impression that casinos can cut a check and/or even wire the money to y0ur bank acclunt. I know that in big slot jackpot wins they will wire the money to a bank acclunt. Is there some clarity here? How big for this service?

Usually with a rubber band around the folded $100's in my pocket.

Most of us felt that way when we got started, but now carring around $5-10K is not a real big deal. If it makes you more comfortable, buy a money belt that you can wear under the waist of your pants.

It is all relative. I used to get nervous going to a game with 1K on me. Now I regularly go to Vegas and Louisiana with 10K on me. I do usually get a lockbox at the casino I am playing at and just carry 1 or 2K around with me at most. I just got back from Vegas and the day I got there I got a box at no charge (save a $50 refundable key deposit) and kept most of my money there until the morning I left. You need the roll in case of a bad run, but you can always leave the table and get more if you need it.

In July, I won about 24K in Vegas and instead of carrying it, I went to a Washington Mutual branch and just deposited it in my account. I opened an account at Washington Mutual Bank for this very reason (and also for the opposite, hehe).

If you play at the same casino most of the time, most higher stakes players get safe deposit boxes at the club. You can just stash your chips/cash in there. That's a good idea, since people love to follow you out to the parking lot and rob you. The shady characters often know who the winners are.

If you go on the road, you just need to carry the cash. If you can't handle it, then you need to learn to. I frequently have 10K on my person, and that's life.

Clearly, you have never been to Canterbury Park.

I have a safe deposit box at the card room. I sometimes use valet, which they comp, but I have never heard of anyone getting robbed in Canterbury's parking lot, so I really don't worry about it much.

But yeah, a lot of these guys will walk around with $10K or so in their pockets. I played in home game last night, so I have about $8K in the other room. So what?

I have only come away from a casino over $2,000 once (High Hand Jackpot) and I walked over to get a money order. Kept the recipt up in my hotel room and the money order in my wallet. Overtime I guess you could get pretty comfortable with larger and larger ammounts in your pocket.
