Wise to just check this flop etc. I didnt feel I was ahead at any point and was drawing only

Itīs ok I guess, but I prefer to bet the flop and though I might not win the pot right there I might buy the button and then I could either take the free card on the Turn or go for the free showdown...

You have a pathetic hand, the board is dangerous, and almost any hand imaginable can find a call if you bet the flop.

I'd play it exactly as you did.
