Nobel peace laureate claims HIV deliberately created (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200410/s1216687.htm)

Her claim about HIV has nothing to do with her award. As far as I know, she received the Nobel Peace Prize based on her life's work in support of democracy and peace. (See, for example, the organization she founded in 1977, the Green Belt Movement: www.greenbeltmovement.org (http://www.greenbeltmovement.org) )

Bobby Fischer is a complete kook now, but that's got nothing to do with his achievements as a chess player. Keep your eye on the ball.

Dick Lugar should have won the Peace Prize this year.

But then, maybe he doesn't want to be in the company of Carter, Arafat te al.

The prize is less than meaningless, it often goes to people who are working against true lasting world peace.

In that case, I guess GWB should have won it. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

then all further discussion about "kooks" is irrelevant.

We had a war criminal up for the Peace Prize. And you get upset because the current Peace Prize winner gives credence to a popular urban myth? You have your priorities wrong, there, mate.

Perhaps your assessment of Henry Kissinger (as with Sharon) as a war criminal is incorrect.

On the other hand, Arafat won it.
