what exactly is a shootout tourney?

Ive played a lot in the last year and thought the answer would somehow come across my path, but it hasnt. Ive been wondering for or a while.

Is it kinda like a bounty on everyone?

At least the way they're played on PokerStars it's a tourney where you eliminate everyone on your table and then move to the next one. So a shootout with 100 players would play like two consecutive sit n' gos. You play ten handed until you're the only one left at your table. Then all the winners from the other 9 tables get together for the final table.

aaaaah

ok

so theres a taj daily on thursday (100+20) with the description double shootout style.

I guess they play ten tables of ten (or something like that)

then the winner of each goes to one more final table with all the other winners.

cool concept
