I'm here in Reno playing some Pot of Gold events. I win the first and only satillite I play. It was a $65 buy in with 10 players, winner take all. I am only piad $550. The Reno Hilton is taking $100 from each $65 sat and $80 from the $45 sats. Is this excessive? Most events are only $200 + $20. I am $485 to the good and probably won't play any more. At $65 a pop you could burn through several entry fees and still not have a seat.
Just looking for some second opinions. Thanks

That is horrible. It is one of the reasons I can't stand playing B&M tournaments. The juice is just too outrageous. Not to mention you don't get decent chips to start and the action moves at a snail's pace.

sometimes they give the second place finisher a nominal amount of cash. Did they do that here?

Your tourney was really a $55 + $10 entry. Not to justify the casino but the table, dealers, etc. have to be paid for. Online the fee would be about $5.50 with no such expense.

As the price goes up the vig usually decreses relative to the buy-in. You noted $200 + $20 which is 10%.
One could definitely state that it costs the same for a single table $1000 satellite as for a $55 satellite but the price will definitely be higher for the $1000 table. Perhaps $1000 bills are heavier. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The satellites were winner take all, however deals were being made between the final two sometimes three players. It just seemed odd to me that they were taking such a large rake. I kind of expected to see $22.00 satellites or $44.00 satellites with two players winning seats.
