when i play Big 2 or [censored] with friends they insist the order of suits from lowest to highest is diamonds, clubs, hearts, spades. i have always insisted that it's clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades. i'm just wondering what is correct? not that it really matters, and i know now that it will never change the way we play, i just want to know.

You're right for standard poker rules, but their order is standard for Big 2 everywhere I've ever played it.

It's just a matter of customs and convention. Big 2 games which I play are always spades, hearts, clubs, diamond in that order from strongest to weakest.
