Use Alt-PrintScreen to put it into Paint or Photoshop. You can verify it for yourself then.

is that a challenge?

Heh, just a suggestion. I couldn't believe it either until I went ahead and did it for myself.

I saved the image. I opened the image with Paint. Then I opened a new paint program. I copied a little piece of box A, pasted into a new paint program. Then I went back and copied a little piece of Box B, and pasted into my other paint. Box A and Box B had the same identical color.

I couldn't believe it.

i just have a hard time believing thats the same color. My eyes are real good and they look different to me.

I'll never know if I believe it or not, because I'm afraid if I stare at it for long enough, a really scary face will appear and a very high pitched scream will send my heartrate skyrocketing and I'll die of shock.

It looked like it might be interesting, though.

Copy and paste the picture into a paint program. Then erase all of the picture except those two squares. It's amazing.

It's been explained to you - all you have to do is go into paint and compare the two colors.

You won't believe the complicated "Monty Hall" problem either!

I had the same doubts. I did the Paint thing and was still surprised.

Now I have to read all the information on the site.

It is not an illusion, It is rigged. The Microsoft Paint program uses a secret algorythm to make the squares look the same color. The same principle is used to rig the Party Poker shuffle.

This is what bothers me. I know the two squares are the same color. But, when I look at the image, they still look radically different. I can't "see through" the illusion.

there IS a reason this is known as an optical illusion.

you know you can click on the links at the bottom that "explain" the illusion. THe draw two gray bars the same color through the illusion. It is much easier than copying everything to MS Paint.

Yes, dynasty. I looked at all the other illusions on the site, and I can "see" why i am tricked and can force myself to see how it affects my visual judgement. I can't do it with this one. it messes me up. Do or do not. There is no try.
