No way I fold this on the river. There's a definitely a much greater than 21.5:1 chance that you are ahead.

why call the turn if you fold that river for that little?

Seems to me like you should reraise the turn - at that point there is a good chance you are ahead and should try to limit the field if possible. If 4bet I would probably fold at that point. Not sure if you would get a 9 to go away, but 2 more big turn bets is about as convincing as you can hope for. If CO had a 4, on to next hand...

I'm not sure he is goooot 1:24 times.

Flop is fine, although I would probably try a check-raise with this many in, unthreatening board - one of them is bound to bite (yes?) with the preflop action.

Turn CO looks like he's hit his 4. In fact unless he's a maniac betting into 5 others is "I've got a 4" or "I've slow played a set". Either way on the river you are surely history. I'd call because of the size of the pot and closing the action, but sure, 95% of the time you're sunk.

Hope you would have won! ;(

I think CO could be raising with a number of non 4 hands - A9 TT JJ QQ etc, or possibly even bluffing at a scare card. while you will be behind a good portion of the time, you should still reraise the turn to eliminate the people who are gonna draw out on you (when you are ahead).

I dont think you can try to checkraise the flop, because the pot is so big that 2 small bets really isn't a huge deterrent to call. With 6 opponents on the turn though this is a perfect time to checkraise (the fish will jump at the idea that you have 2 unimproved overcards) and limit the field.

I thought I might have been ahead on the turn but the river clearly sealed my fate.

so a turn raise in a massive pot where no one is folding followed by a river bet out of nowhere and two calls means I'm ahead on a double-paired board more than 5% of the time?

I doubt I'm even good that often to be honest. River hands, in order: 9c8c, AhJh, 6d4d

The problem with 3 betting the turn that is I've probably inflated the pot to the point where calling the 4th bet for spiking an ace is correct. I do think I should have tried to checkraise at some point, but I honestly don't know where. I was thinking the flop simply because it looks like I have AK and missed.

What I'm curious about is the AJh calling on the river...

Nice to be right once in a while. Now all I need is a new brain to be able to do it at the tables /images/graemlins/smile.gif

You cant fold the river. It is likely he has a 4, but could have other pairs or semibluffing hands. I guess you could go for a checkraise on the turn or flop, since if you bet, everyones going to call anyway. Dont fold the river.

He thinks the two pair will split with anyone with an A kicker.
