I'm going for a checkraise on the flop, but it gets raised ahead of me. I decide to just call. Should I have 3-bet the flop?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 9/images/graemlins/club.gif.
2 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 4/images/graemlins/club.gif (5 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, UTG+2 raises, MP1 folds, CO folds, Hero calls, BB calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+2 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG+2 calls.

River: (9.50 BB) 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG+2 folds.

Final Pot: 10.50 BB
Main Pot: 9.50 BB, won by Hero.
Pot 2: 1 BB, returned to Hero.

I would raise this preflop. At the tighter 5/10 games you can take control of the pot, not to mention your hand is probably the best after 3 limpers. On top of this SSHE says to raise AA-99 out of the SB.

I like your waiting for the turn to check-raise to protect your hand. There probably are no good draws on this board. On top of that you get to see if BB 3-bets. Then you can think about folding if you see a cap or continued agression on the turn.

I donīt think that BB would have folded hes hand at the flop anyway so I think that you did right to raise at the turn instead. Easier to drive peopel out there and you got the opertunity to raise UTG+2 and get an extra BB there too /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But that is only my amature thinking =)

Hi Adam,

Yes, 3-bet this flop. Too many face cards to kill you out there. You've got BB's money, now take him out to get heads-up with raiser. Although I do feel betting out would have given you the same result (barring anyone holding the 4 of course). Doing so ensures that some fool with drive out the back end for you.

Did you consider raising preflop? This would make the hand more difficult to play, though, but worth popping it if the game's been a bit passive.
