...anyone know if there will be a hardcover version of Super System 2? If the book is good, I would want to have it...but I shudder to think that the Poker Bible would have only a Cardoza paperback as its heir.

The hardcover edition is only available to people who get it from doylesroom.com All retail edition books will be softcover.

Anyone know when the actual ship date is? I ordered from Amazon, who claimed this past Monday, which has come and gone.

Thanks

Barnes and Noble told me first week of November.

According to Amazon, I was supposed to have the book yesterday. It has still not shipped.

After hearing that I could get a hardback edition by playing on DoylesRoom, I decided to bite the bullet and do it. One 3-hr session at 2/4 and I'm 1/4 of the way to earning the book (and up $100!). It looks like 10,000 action points is not hard to do.

The release date for retail edition books will be no earlier than January 2005. There is also currently a post on RGP from someone, saying that they will not be releasing ANY copies by retail (thus the only way to get it will be doylesroom.com)

Will places like amazon, borders etc have them around the same time.

I couldnt care less about the hardcover.

Anyone recommend playing at doylesroom?

All retail places will have them no earlier than January 2005. I would recommend doylesroom, it took me about 4 days to get the 10,000 actionpoints.

However, if you play 2/4 or less, I wouldn't recommend it. I got most of my points from $20 heads up sit and gos. You get 100 points for each one, so 100 $20 head to head sit and gos, and you have the book. The turbo ones take 10 mins max, so it wasn't too hard to get them.

I never got any SS2 promotional Action Points countdown when I signed up. Am I supposed to get this, or do the normal points count anyway for this promotion?

I recommend playing at the Doylesroom. 10000 action points sounds like much but its not. I made 1352 in 2 hours playing some low limit NL holdem (6max)and PL omaha8. Since Doyle is some how involved with this site, I'm sure the action point calculation was his idea...the more action, the more you make! If you fold preflop you get 0 points. All in, lots!!

Play is very loose and software worked well. There were over 1200 players when I logged in so they have got a good start compared to most new sites. SS2 is a very good signup bonus and attraction.

Put "SS2" on referral code when signing up. But from what I heard it doesn't really matter. After 10000 points, send them an email and they will put you on mailing list for book.

I'm up 132 and hope not to pay a dime for the book. It looks like very many players will end up paying a small fortune for it! (If they ever get to 10000 before going broke...:D)
Especially the guy who called my top two pair all in with T9 on a kj2 board or his friend who tried his luck calling an allin on a four flush board with top pair second best kicker...

I hope he can afford an editor this time. The mayberry home spun writing is passe.

Its a VC skin, VC invented the action points probably two years ago.

I read somwhere else that SS2 is still being edited and if thats the case cant see it being out for a while yet.

Ugh...I shudder at the thought of ever having to play at a VC/GP skin again. I hate that place. I can't believe Doyle attached his name to the place.

You say you played 100 $20 SNG's.....at $2 fee each, that's $200 for a $20 book.....I can see if you are a very good player, but gezus, that seems silly.

I played 43 of them and went 30-13, for a profit of just under $300. The remaining 5700 points, I played cash games and $10+.5 turbo head to heads.

Also, the fee for $20 is only $1 (so you get 100 actionpoints, .5 fee for $5 and $10 for 50 actionpoints each).

Still, $100 in action seems a bit excessive for a $20 book.

I was looking through the things you can by with your action points on VC (the same group as doylesroom), for 66 million action points you can get a new car, sounds good but the most action points you can get per hand is 300, so if you played every hand until the rake had been capped for 10 hours a day it would take you 366 days to get the car! wonder if anyone will ever manage?

If you WIN while the site is getting your action, you don't pay for the book...your competitors do.

You're just giving Doyle your action instead of, say, Party. Doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice, unless you weren't planning on playing at all.
