hi everyone , i just found out that my local elks club is holding no limit holdem tourneys on saturday nights. 25 dollar buy in with a 25 dollar rebuy in the first 40 minutes. what books and or videos would you reccomend for getting started in these tourneys? i have been playing online, .5-1 and 1-2 limit for about a year with occasional attemps at online tourneys, any recomendations would be appreciated. thanks pete

(modified response to similar question in beginner forum ...)
Usually recommended are:

1 "No-limit Texas Hold 'Em" (New Player's Guide) by Daugherty and McEvoy.
2. "Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker" by Reuben & Caffione
3. "Tournament Poker For Advanced Players" by Sklansky
4. "Championship Satellite Strategy" by Daugherty & McEvoy

2+2 supposedly has some no-limit books coming out soon.

I've read #1 - helped me a lot coming from strictly low-limit hold 'em. Keep in mind I was pretty clueless about no-limit to begin with.

I agree with the previous post.

I always recommend the following NL books to my friends, etc.

1. No Limit Hold Em: Beginners Series - McEvoy/Daugherty
2. NL & PL Hold Em - Cloutier/McEvoy
3. Tournament Poker For Advanced Players - Sklansky
4. PL & NL Poker - Ciaffone
5. Championship Satellite Strategy - McEvoy/Daugherty

(I have recently changed my reading order by moving Sklansky ahead of Ciaffone.)

If you want a crash course on DVD, I would recommend:

1. Secrets of No Limit Hold Em - Lederer
2. More Secrets of No Limit Hold Em - Lederer

This should get you on your way. Good luck!
