I play in a weekly home game with between 6-8 players. I have been having a problem deciding how to play an ace with a kicker between 8-2 out of position. Usually I limp in with these hands, but I do not know if this is the correct play. How do you play these Ax hands? Thanks.

Fold.

If they are suited, and you have a lot of limpers in front of you, you can limp yourself and hope for the flush (or two pair or straight), but otherwise, just let'em go man, let'em go.

folding pre-flop makes the post-flop decision much easier

Even with six people, isnt an ace high likeley to be one of the best hands, also would you fold an A9 offsuit in early position?

Well, you said 6-8 people in your original post. I don't play 6 max games, so I'm probably not qualifed to answer.

in a full game at low stakes on Party? Yes.

Only if there's not a lot of table aggression can you limp in with Axs in EP 6 max, obviously toss it if someone raises unless the entire table calls and you have a big enough stack.

Otherwise, fold Axs and Axo in EP ring games, including A9o.

Is no one here reading what this guy has to say?

His Ace is SOOOOOOOTED! How could you possibly or reasonably tell this guy to fold THAT pre-flop?

ace-10 is the lowest non suited ace hand you want to be playing.

Apparently, there are at least two people who did not appreciate I was being sarcastic. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

With 6-8 players in the game...

If you flop an A, you lose to an A with higher kicker, if you flop the X, you probably lose to 2 pair or higher pair.
