View Full Version : Three PL hands

Home game, 7 players-some excellent, others terrible. Most players have $500-2000 in front. I have about $500. Cards have been running (have not won a hand in 3 hours) terribly and am stuck $1000.

First hand. (BTW, this is last 1/2 hour of game)

Game is pineapple. I am dealt 8-9-Js in middle position. Limp in for $10 (blinds are 10-10). Five callers.

Flop 9-5-2, Rainbow.

EP (loose) bets $50, gets one caller. Two players behind me. At this point, I have top pair, medium kicker.

What do I do?

Second hand:

Pineapple, early in evening, I am cutoff. Of original $500 buy in, have about $200 left. Dealt Q-Q-K (suited). UTG raises $25, gets two callers, I reraise $75, get two callers and player to my right (Good Player) goes in for $200. I call allin with my $90 left, get one other caller.

Flop: A-8-2 R. I know I am dead. Of course I lose to raiser. Turns out he was dealt A-K-K, so I was huge dog.

Question: Should I have just called the $35 preflop, hoping to catch a Q or flush/straight draw?

Third Hand:

Again, only have about $300 in front of me.

Dealt 7-7-8s. in cutoff.

EP makes it $40 to go, I call.

Flop comes 2-2-J, two spades (giving me fourflush). I discard the 7.

Checked around to me. I check. Should I have bet?

Turn: 6 of spades, making flush.

BB bets $100. Because I only have about $250 left, I raise all-in. He calls and show 5-10 spades, giving him higher flush.

Question: Should I have bet flop, and should I have bet turn, esp. considering he didn't have to call many chips (he had about $2000). Also, if I had a decent stack, what should I have done.

I normally play limit, or if PL, hi-lo. I've read the books, and none of these hands were powerhouse hands. In fact, these were the only three hands I played past the flop all night. I realize they aren't great hands, but when you see garbage all night your standards sometimes fall.

Also, I never play pineapple, and all three loses were in this game. How much different is this game. Books??

Thanks.

Jon

Fold. Your pair is no good here. AA wired is no good here.

Yeah, I think a call would be better. You have a good hand, but pineapple, like omaha, is more of a flop game. If you could get it heads up, a raise might have been right, but here I like a call.

I did a bunch of pineapple sims a few years ago which I don't have in front of me. But I remember thinking that if two of a suit hit the flop, I should expect the flush draw to be out there. I don't like your nine for this reason, but it might be playable if it hits runner runner.

You might consider reposting on the other games forum. Buzz posts there, and he keeps all the pineapple stats at his finger tips. If I find his email address I'll ask him to look at your post.
