I am using a 17" flat screen. The resolution does not allow me to see 4 Empire tables at once without significant overlap. I can purchase a 21" 1200x1600 resolution flat screen at Costco for $800 (I can't remember the manufacturer, it is not a common brand).

My questions for you all:

1. Is the $800 monitor a good buy or are there better options out there?
2. When I do purchase a second monitor, do I need any software or technical help to operate both monitors simultaneously? I intend on 4-tabling Empire on the new monitor and playing two tables on the "old" 17" monitor for bonus whoring at various sites.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

the dell 2001fp is generally considered to be the best value, i believe you can find it cheaper than 800. it is probably also a better monitor than the one at costco. id go with the dell. as of right now im using 2 sony 19" flat panel lcds and its great. i would prefer 1600x1200, but these only go up to 1280x1024. oh well, i still love them.

I hope you're 21" is an LCD and not a CRT monitor.

You need a video card that can support two monitors or a second video card.

On slickdeals.net theres a link to a 20 inch 1600x1200 Dell for $689 right now. If I hadn't bought 2 19 inchers a couple months ago I'd buy 2 of those bad boys.

No special software is needed if you have windows 2000/xp, just right click the screen, go to display, and mess around with the monitor setup, really easy. You do however need a video card that can do 2 or you can buy 2 cheapo cards and use them both (can't be 2 agp).
