But I don't think I played too badly

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6/images/graemlins/club.gif, A/images/graemlins/club.gif.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero calls, BB calls.

Flop: (12 SB) Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (6 players)
Hero checks, BB folds, UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, CO checks, Button checks.

5 people behind me to act, I think checking with the intention of deciding what do later is the right play here.

On another note BB folded w/out a bet in the pot. I've been playing poker for 2 years and I constantly see it. WTF are these people thinking? Why would you fold instead of checking?

Turn: (6 BB) 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif (5 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, MP1 folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero calls.

I checked here hoping to check raise an LP bettor b/c I didn't think I'd be able to fold enough people with a bet out here. Once the guy to my imediate left bets, I really don't have any way to thin the field so I just call along.

River: (10 BB) 4/images/graemlins/club.gif (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, CO folds, Button calls, Hero calls.

Same thinking on the river. Hoping for an overcall here from LP

Final Pot: 13 BB
Main Pot: 13 BB, between UTG+1, Button and Hero.

Fold turn, after 2 callers, your pair of 6's probably isnt' best.

The only way I can see you winning this hand, is if they were both on busted flush draws. I am thinking UTG+1 has something like AK. Its the other players I am worried about.

fold turn. preflop raiser could have AK but he also could have JJ or TT. One of the other 2 might have a Q.

True, I did not even think about JJ or TT, and I dont like cold calling (5) with A6s here either.

Why would I fold the turn getting 9:1 on my call. I know I'm probobly behind but I have the odds to try for my 2 pair outs

Because the pot is semi-small. And there is another card to come, that can beat you.

I'm getting 9:1 on my call, I have 5 outs to hit 2 pair, and I think 2 pair or better will win the pot. The odds of an A or 5 coming up on are slightly worse than 8:1 against. Therefore, this call is a good call.

River call? since you missed your outs.

Even with the callers, you are out of position. I easily give up my SB on this. Say i make the loose call, with this flop I am not putting any more money in this pot unless an A or a 6 comes on the turn

Pot was big, I was closing the action. I figured I was good more than 8% of the time.

I think calling the pfr was my biggest mistake of the hand.

That's what I was thinking.

I think the turn call is ok.

I have become very tight in the SB and I like it. Easy pre-flop muck for me here esp. with $1 SB.

I'll probably be called an old tightwad but I'd fold preflop. You are getting a little better than 5 to 1 on the call and true few hands are worse than that but you often put yourself in a very bad position postflop of paying off too often with second best hand.

On the turn I bet out and fold unimproved on the river if raised.

I fold PF for starters.

errrr, edited for poor hand reading skills.

Bet the Turn. Your hand may be best, and you certainly can't afford for it to get checked around again. You're also going to have to call a bet if you check anyways. I think most people are underestimating your chances of having the best hand on the Turn. While everyone at 3/6 generally follows the "check-to-the-raiser" mentality, meaning that you can't know whether or not a Queen is out there, the pot is large enough and you have enough outs if you are beaten to make betting correct on the Turn.

All in all, I don't think you botched this hand too badly. The pre-Flop call is borderline, but only because of the 3/6 blind structure. I think at a 1/2 SB structure it is profitable. The check on the Flop is routine, and checking the River with 3 opponents still in there is fine as well. Overcalling with 2nd pair is also iffy, but given the passive approach you took to the Turn as well as the pot size it is probably necessary.
