Overnight 20/40 at the Borg’, very good game with many clueless players.

I’m in the CO with KQ /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Joe open raises 2 to my right, I call

Flop is A /images/graemlins/club.gif J /images/graemlins/spade.gif T /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Joe bets, I call

Turn is A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Joe bets, I raise, Joe instantly 3-bets, action is back on me, I…..

Call or 4 bet?

4 bettors, say Joe calls the 4-bet

River is J /images/graemlins/club.gif

4 bettors, say Joe checks the river, what do you do?

Callers, say Joe bets into you on the river, what do you do?

I am shocked that you didn't 3-bet preflop. What do you think Joe put you on when you made this play here? I think this coldcall is so telling that there is an extremely small range of hands you could have, the most likely being KQs and AJs, I would guess. The other hands you could have are powerhouses, and if Joe has an A, it is possible he thinks you are on KK. Or he thinks your coldcall is bizarre and can't read you at all.

Thus, I think you can only call the threebet.

I would check the river no matter how it went down. I am not even sure you should call a bet, but I think the possibility that this is all crazy posturing between good players forces you to pay off.

Barry, after a 4-bet on the turn. What do you do when I bet out on the river?

Peace,

After watching the hand go down I was very surprised to see the K/images/graemlins/spade.gifQ/images/graemlins/spade.gif.

I'm sure 3-betting preflop is better than calling. After that, postflop should be a breeze.

I didn't want to get into all of the various scenarios, like if I 4 bet, what happens if you 5 bet...

I'd probably raise the flop against an aggressive player like Joe.
