i have read ssh and the chapter on protecting a made hand mainly talks about checking to a pf raiser and reraising to make poeple with gutshots and a what not cold call and thus making it unprofitable for them.

how do you protect a hand when there was no pf raiser to help you make drawers cold call? i'm guessing there is not a way. if that is the case, do you just bet out and hope they miss their draw (even tho they are getting the correct odds) or do you check hoping that someone got a piece of the flop and thus give you a check raising opportunity? the downside to this is if no one bets you are giving everyone a fee card.

thx
