Just a routine KK till a raising war started... the flop worried me a little bit too.

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K/images/graemlins/spade.gif, K/images/graemlins/club.gif. MP1 posts a blind of $0.5. MP2 posts a blind of $0.5. UTG+2 posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG calls, Hero raises, UTG+2 (poster) 3-bets, MP1 (poster) folds, MP2 (poster) calls, MP3 calls, CO folds, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Flop: (25.50 SB) J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif (7 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG+2 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, BB calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (15.25 BB) 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif (6 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG+2 folds, MP2 calls, BB calls, UTG folds.

River: (18.25 BB) 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (4 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks.

Final Pot: 18.25 BB

Worked out well for me, but did I play this right?

Cap preflop.

Bet the river.

despite the flush draw potential?

Do you tend to always check when the third card of the same suit hits? I think that's a bad habit.

I understand -- I really do -- but you absolutely cannot be thinking this way while you are playing. J74 -- even with two of a suit -- is a fabulous flop for kings. Other than the flush draw, the only other reasonable draw out there is a 56, and the only hands that you are losing to are AA, JJ, 77, 44, J7, J4 and 74. And you are a favorite against just about every flush draw. Sure there will be times that you put a lot of chips in and get run down at the end. Especially if -- as you SHOULD -- you bet the river even when the third diamond comes. But even with those beats these are profitable situations and you need to recognize them as such.

Piiop is (as usual) absolutely right. Cap preflop. Bet the river.

Bisonbison -- if you see this, it appears to me that the converter mangled this hand. Methinks the button went all-in preflop, and it wasn't picked up. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, I just thought you might want to know if you don't already.

That's nothing close to a raising war. I was expecting to see a couple caps post-flop.
Anyway, cap pre-flop and bet the river. Don't fear the flush!

Why aren't you capping this preflop?

Why are you checking the river?

Show some aggression!

Accept for one player pre-flop, no one else showed aggression.

You need to cap this preflop 100% of the time, and bet the river 100% of the time.

There are many worse hands that will call.

I would cap it preflop, and lead the river/call a raise.

man I both love and hate replying without looking at the replies, and seeing that I typed basically everything everyone else said. it makes me feel like I'm doing something right, but at the same time, what a collective intelligence we posters at 2+2 are.

Hey ArturiusX,

You lie, copycat.

Oh, in regards to the thread. Has anyone mentioned to cap preflop and bet the river?

Don't worry, you'll be a clone (clown?) like all of us soon.

nothin scary on that flop, or that river either, i'd bet and call a raise. At .50/1 most players don't need to be beating KK to 3-bet. Welcome that action. Cap.
