I expected today's "debate" to be little more than a bunch of mini-speeches rammed together given the (ridiculous) rules which the two parties imposed on the debates. However, I felt that Lehrer did an excellent job encouraging as much debate as would fit within the restrictive format. I was also pleasantly impressed with the quality of his questions, although neither party was inclined to directly answer, well, any of them. (To their credit, they generally managed to find something in the same topic to talk about.)
