9 handed $1/$2 table at Full Tilt, so no converter.

Normal Full Tilt tight table with one or two semi-loose players. Main villain in this drama is tight to semi-tight. No strong read on his aggression.

Hero is dealt A /images/graemlins/club.gif 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

UTG, UTG+1, UTG+2 fold, Hero raises, MP2 fold, CO fold, Button fold, SB call, BB call.

(6 SB) Flop: 2 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

BB check. Hero bet. SB fold. BB call

(4 BB) Turn: 7 /images/graemlins/club.gif

BB check. Hero bet. BB raise. Hero call.

(8 BB) River J /images/graemlins/club.gif

BB bet. Hero call

Final pot: 10BB between Hero and BB.

Standard play?

I think I call down too. People like to take shots at scary boards when it looks like you might be on overcards. If you had a read to the effect that villain was passive post flop, I'd be ok with letting go on the turn.

It's a 9-handed table and the first 3 players folded. You shouldn't ever be limping in this spot. If you want to play this hand, you should come in raising. If you don't want to play it, fold.

What he said.

And, its a fairly tight table, and the raise will usually knock out A2-AJ and give me a fair amount of confidence than no cold caller dominates me.

Another good reason to raise.
