DavidRoss,

Was it a bluff? KJ9 Flop.

And why won't he let you be?

beachbum
09-30-2004, 10:44 PM
I'm a dumba$$ too. I have T6s in the SB. Flop is Q66. There were 2 limpers in preflop. Bottom line is I slowplayed it and got caught. Turn was a 2. River was a 5.

I check called a small flop bet and check-checked the turn. I KNEW he had a pocket pair either 2's or 5's when he raised me all in on the river, but deluded myself to thinking he had a queen.

Intrigued by your 99 play.

Newbie learning a lot.

Thanks!

It wasn't a very good play, but he almost layed it down

made a nice call with JJ on a QTx board when a guy went all in, he had AJ. Bled some chips off with 99 vs JJ, but on the last hand bvefore break I called a raise from the BB with 88, then check raised all in on a 433 flop, he called with KJ?? and I have a nice stack.

On a sad note I was playing the $100 NL at the same time, down to last 80, got it all in against a huge stack with AK vs A7, 2 7's hit. yuck.

I'm still in too for anyone who cares, I'm two seats to David's right. Just folded AQ in the bb to his raise. NH Dave!

Wow david.

That was just about the most obvious trap I've ever seen.
I can't believe he fell for that.

Nice.

I'm not that good at MTT's, but is there really anything else you can do this late in a tournament with a big hand like this when stealing is rife and people are coming in strong with marginal hands?

I was watching at the time, too.

Nice play, DRoss.

Macdaddy Warsaw

And he's out in 4th. 99 runs into TT after an 8 high flop and then he's crippled. Gets AKo on the next hand, goes all-in and gets called by JTo.

T hits with no help for AK.

DR was best player at the table.

Good finish, DR.

Good game David, 4th and $6200!! Couple tough breaks at the end else you had top 3. Enjoyed watching /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats, David!

I was only able to watch for an hour or so (then my $10 SnG got waaaay too intense, and there was $50 at stake! But I don't have to tell you about big money.) Anyway, I was struck by two things:

-Watching you play is pretty damn dull. /images/graemlins/wink.gif I mean could you play a few more hands just to keep the railbirds entertained? But seriously, playing tight is key. You were well under the average stack (a problem woodguy has urged us to ignore), but did't start playing silly hands. You waited until you had a good spot (pocket 8s that were an overpair on the flop) and CRed all-in to double up.

-Take your time. Almost every bet you made, save the occasional open-raise from LP or completion from the SB, was preceeded by a 10-15 seconds of thought. I don't do this and I need to start. Not only does it give you the chance to go through multiple levels to thought (What do I have? What does he have? What does he think I have?) It screamed out, "This guy is paying attention. Take him seriously." I will remember this.

Anyway, I'm sorry I missed the rush that took you to the final table, but congrats again.
