Just a quick question that I'm sure the more experienced players will be able to tackle rather easily. When I'm playing .25/.50, should I buyin to the table my full $125, or just 30 as to not scare away other opponents? Or, will they show my raises more respect and allow me to isolate more effectively? Just a bit of feedback would help. Thanks.
I don't think you'll scare anyone by sitting down with so much. Sitting down with this much it is obvious you haven't won most of it at that table - no-one has a reason to be scared.

i usually go with the guide of buying in at 2x a capped pot plus a big bet. So in .25/.50 it would be $12.50. This seems very small, but .25/.50 is a VERY micro limit. I think my guideline is better for 1/2 and 2/4.

Yeah, the tables that I have sat down at with more cash however my raises have gotten ALOT more respect; maybe that was just the table though.

I've never noticed a difference in the respect people give me based on the buyin at the table. Most people dont pay attention to it.

Yeah, now that I have about 125 and have been crushing this game on a regular basis, do you suggest I move up limits? I'm trying to take it slow this time, I've had a few encounters where I've moved up so fast I've busted out.
P.S. I mostly play live.
Maybe this is something you can experiment with. Do you want more respect or not for your raises though?

How much did you start with? Also, .25/.50 is a very random game. You could easily just be on a upswing. You might try playing a 1/2 table with your money tho, its really up to you.

Where do you play live for 0.25/0.50?

Nono, I play live games for higher limits, but I'm working my way up online from my 20 that I deposited, as a challenge.
No, It's not an upswing I've been grinding it out playing solid poker. The games just happen to be incredibly loose/passive.
P.S. When I wrote more experienced, I meant in regards to online poker, not poker in general.

Gotcha, your P.S. fooled me.
If you've playing live for a while and don't mind redepositing if you hit a bad streak, then by all means move up.

And to answer the original question, I buy in for 20 or 25BB. As long as you don't go under 12, no big deal either way.
