Is 3160 hands a reasonable sample size? Absolutely not. Then why am I making this post? Basically, through 3k hands, I'm up $47.24 - not that this is anything to cry about - but after making > 4 BB/100 at .5/1, I'm curious if anyone has any insight as to why the sudden dropoff. My stats are essentially the same. Has anyone else had this problem when switching from .5/1? I don't think the extra aggression is affecting me...and I certainly feel I'm playing reasonably well.

I am going to continue to grind it out at 1/2 - the game seems no different to me. I just wanted to know if anyone had some insight or shared experiences.

Play at least 7k more and then take a look at your stats again. Poker is gambling and gambling means variance. So Poker means variance. 3k is absolutely nothing.

My stats are close to the same at both levels.

At .5/1 I'm a slightly losing player, though I am 100% convinced that it had more to do with running bad than with playing bad. I was a winning player for 90% of the time at this level, until I started running really bad.

At 1/2 I'm at at 10 bb/100, because i'm playing at least solid, and running well, and receiving some good charity from 1 player in particular.

Just shows how variance can skew results, and you can't really on them with only a few hands.

This handwaving about how many hands is enough is off the mark. How many hands is enough is very dependent on how big your BB/100 is; the bigger it is, the fewer hands you need to confirm that your being a winning player is statistically significant. Here's a link to a post of mine that tells you how to make an approximate, but quite good, calculation of the uncertainty. You will need Poker Tracker and some MS Access smarts: poker stats calculation (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=micro&Number=1065807&F orum=All_Forums&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main= 1065603&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=10479&dater ange=1&newerval=2&newertype=w&olderval=&oldertype= &bodyprev=#Post1065807)

You're less than 4bb/100 after 3k hands??? Jesus, go back down to .5/1 as soon as possible before you go broke.

As an FYI, I've got you in my database with the following stats:

Hands > 200
VPIP - > 28
PFR - > 13
Postflo aggression < 2

I would consider posting some hands, both winners and losers to get some feedback on postflop play.
