I'm wondering whether I need to be more aggressive preflop with this type of hand & situation. SSHE says raise w/ 99 in tight games and 88 in loose ones. What do you think?

No, you want people to call this behind you.

This is perfectly played.

I misread my own hand. Almost nullifies my original question.

I was concerned about a turn c/r. Thoughts on how that should be played?

From BB? You should just call if he check-raises you on the turn.

Check-call the river unimproved after the c/r, unless of course he's way over agressive. And of course, if the river pairs the board, cap it like you did.

IOTW, don't fold this turn if he check raises you. The decision to three-bet or call is close, but read-dependent.

if you ever, EVER fold a set on the turn in any kind of pot, you should smack yourself repeatedly.

Ok, concensus seems to be to call down with the set in the face of a turn c/r (signalling a straight), as long as the I'm not improved on the river. I put my guy on a draw, but he woke up with the second T. Possibly tripped up, but also concerned about T9, T7, JT. But that's pretty damned passive play for those hands.
